Heading to Munich for Oktoberfest but flew into Nuremberg from London & didn’t want to go straight there due to the higher cost of rooms so I just picked a spot midway & ended up in Regensburg.
I really enjoyed my short two night stay. Had a chance to walk & explore. I specifically liked the waterfront & old town. There are several nice parks to walk in (it’s autumn so the leaves are changing color & falling- so lovely).
Bus system is easy to navigate with most buses having advanced systems for location, upcoming 5 stops & even transfer information. I so wish it was always like this.
To me the highlights are:
- Sausage Restaurant
- Stone Bridge
- Cathedral – dark with lots of stained glass
- Monastery doors
- All the Clock Towers
- Document at Neupfarrplatz
- David & Goliath
- Wolf in Sheep Clothing Statue
Now I’m on the Bavarian train to Munich- double decker with wonderful view of the countryside
