The Budget so Far on a Year of Traveling

July 25, 2017 By luvzog

So everyone keeps asking about my budget – yes, some places I’m over the budgeted $55 per day and some places under but mostly I am right on, it is all about balance & long term (the same way I “saved” my money)…

Example – today in Berlin, Germany:  I bought a 7-day Bus/Subway/Train Pass for 37.50€ or 3.50€ per day.  I’m staying in my own Airbnb Flat (full kitchen, bathroom with hot shower, clothes washer & very comfortable bed w/big bay windows, close to the metro, markets and numerous restaurants – even a wonderful park with a waterfall) for 29.57€ per night.  (Some rooms are less – my own seaside room in Crete Greece was only $21 per night, my shared Flat w/private room in Paris was $18 & the Hostel in London was $12.

Then some are more – I paid $62 a night for my Houseboat in Norway & $69 for a private country cabin in York).  It’s a bit rainy today, so I slept in and then walked down to have the Best Döner kebab in the City and The Best I have Ever Had at Mustafa’s Gemuese Kebab for 3.50€ – Huge, a full meal.  Went to the market bought a bottle of Vodka 4.95€, a huge beer 1.20€ & a bottle of mixed fruit juice .89€.  I also picked up a steak & mushrooms for dinner, which I will add to the veggie stir fry I made last night 2.20€.  Note – I don’t drink coffee or smoke cigarettes.  So All total for the day was 45.81€.  With the conversion that is $52.59.  And technically the Vodka & Juice will last me several  days so should be divided.  So there you go – In Berlin I’m just under my budget.  This whole week should be right on.  I then go to Potsdam where my room is even less & train ride there only 3.10€.

“You can always spend more – the fun challenge is in spending less”

Where Am I And Where Am I Going – A Typical Day In The Life Of The Collector of Experiences…

April 28, 2020 By luvzog

The Where, How & The What… Usually at night around 20:00 when I get back to my flat (AirBnB, Hotel, Hostel, CouchSurfing, TrustedHouseSitters) after a day of wandering & exploring (I average walking @8km a day), I fire up the laptop, get online via free WiFi (I do carry SkyRoam, but I use that only […]
