One Year In…
Well here I am, one year from the day I shut down my life and started on the “Experience of a Lifetime”. On May 5th, 2017, I had sold my house, quit my job, sold my car and put what was left into an 8×10 storage unit. From there I made the jump… Boarded a plane for Iceland and started six months of travel. I visited 80 Cities in 18 Countries and then…
While in the UK I got word that my brother was having difficulties. Rich & I spoke many times over the next month and then he died. Quickly – Bladder Cancer… November 11th, 2017. I came back to the USA to handle his massive Estate.
It’s all good – my brother died how he wanted, just much sooner than expected. I’m already in a life of flux, this puts me the unique position to “pause” and handle his collection. With my inheritance I am now officially retired and can increase my $55 per day budget. However I think I will continue the Experience. I really enjoy the challenge. “It’s easy to spend more money – the challenge is in spending less”. It has also given me the time to spend with family and friends before the next leg of the journey.
So here I am… I have traveled by car, bus, plane & boat. I have had the opportunity to eat some amazing (and not so amazing) food. I’ve met friends that I will keep forever. Stayed in so many unique locations and had Experiences beyond measure. It’s all Good. Life is Good and I’m in Love with who I am and what I do.
I gave myself a reminder taste of my traveling life by visiting Havana – so needed and so refreshing. I can’t wait to finish my duties and head back out.
