Ok here’s what you must do: go to Bordeaux France and the Marche’ Des Capoucins market. Wander up & down the aisles & get good & hungry looking at all the amazing meat, charcuterie, cheese, seafood, pastas & vegetables- buy 250g of Beurre Doux La Grande Prairie – butter. Then mosey back to Chez Christaphe & wait for a seat to open up (it is full of locals) sit down order 1/2 dozen Fine de Claire Huîtres (Oysters) & a glass of Chateau Le Pas Du Loup Sauvignon. When the heaven on a plate arrive- open their lid, use the little fork to release the
mussel from the top & bottom, drip two drops of lemon juice on top & slurp it down. You get a wonderful taste of the sea, light & refreshing. Really some of the best oysters I’ve ever had. Open up the butter you bought earlier- spread some on the supplied fresh baguette, take a sip of wine, enjoy the taste of the butter – sit back, watch the parade of local life in Bordeaux & repeat 5 more times. Ah I love love love it – oh & did I mention 6 oysters & glass of wine is only 8€ – Bon Appétit
Bonus for me – Badtz got us a free glass of wine from the owner. Sweet – sometimes that guy is worth all the trouble he gets us into.
And also a side note – if you REALLY want a little slice of local life – belly up to the bar & order some Pommes Frites & some Get 27 (damn good cremes de menthe that has been around since 1796 on ice to sip). This area is full & I do mean full of the local working class (they just use a note book in this area to keep tabs on who orders what & collect at some later date) drinking coffee, wine & beer. Don’t be put off by the smoking it’s their culture. Absorb the moment- its life in its true sense. Tap your glass to get it filled & two cheek kisses to the owner or even better his sister – magnifique!!
