Well here it is, the first month of sixty…
So far traveling has been better than expected – I have been extremely lucky on all levels. My accommodations have been far better than I ever could have expected (& cheaper – well for the most part). The weather has been amazing except for a little bit of rain in Oslo, which really did not affect anything. Travel for the most part has been easy (air, train, tram, bus & pvt car). Yes I have gotten lost a few times and turned around a lot – oh and did have a little bit of a scare one very late night in Warsaw where I was completely and totally lost but someone came to my rescue and it was all good. I am walking a ton – I calculate I average about 4k per day. I have lost 16lbs and gotten a tan (even if it is a farmer’s tan). I have had the opportunity to eat some amazing food, drank way too much (is that a bad thing).
And I have met some really incredible people. Shout out to Frida, Linda, Paulina, Mark, always late Maria, Philippe, Eric, Alice, Sebastian, Conrad, Nektaria, Tom, Tanya & several others but I can’t remember their names (or spell them). I have met up with friends from the states (Hello to: Phyllis, Chris & Laura). And I reconnected with my Norwegian family Erik, Rita, Marius, Morton, Svein, Aase, Lars, Unni, Bengt – the experiences are certainly mounting.
But I am traveling way too fast I have already technically been in nine countries & fifteen cities. And plan on being in at least four more before the end of July. However I’m looking at this as a checking out period. Just testing the waters and looking at places that I want to come back to or completely skip. And most of the speed has been due to wanting to connect with friends/family on their schedule. I know I want to go back to Norway, next August for festivals plus the northern area. And I really enjoyed Helsinki, Pärnu and Tallinn. But so far Crete is my favorite for doing nothing (inexpensive $23 per night across from the beach & amazingly fresh seafood) and I think I will have to hang out there for a few months soaking up the Vitamin Sea.
Well there it is – my next update like this will be in six months. I hope you keep reading my Blog and following me on FB…
